I take 25mg of losartan twice daily. It seems to have a diuretic effect on me, but my doctor says there is no diuretic in the medication; that it simply takes extra liquid out of the kidneys. So why do I urinate more when I take losartan? This is not a new development. It has always been this way with losartan; even with this small dose.
I have not seen this side effect from losartan in discussion/FAQs?

Depends on the form you are taking. Losartan potassium and hydrochlorothiazide tablets are combination of losartan, an angiotensin ii receptor blocker (arb) and hydrochlorothiazide, a diuretic indicated for: treatment of hypertension, to lower blood pressure.

I think it does act as a diuretic cuz it affects me that way too. I take 100 mg dose. I think they say it isn’t a diuretic cuz some also take an actual diuretic with Losartan, can’t recall the name though. Taking extra liquid from the kidneys kind of sounds like a diuretic to me.
